placed an authentic contract I had signed while accepting my position at the hospital.

At first glance, the signatures seemed close.

Then he pointed out the differences.

I also slightly too careful.

Whoever copied my signature had studied its appearance.

They had not copied the unconscious motion behind it.

Brian looked stunned.

Daniel did not overstate the point.

He let the signatures remain enlarged on the screen.

For the first time since the money disappeared, I watched doubt move in the at her.

“I’ve never spoken to you.”

Melissa blinked.

For the first time, she seemed genuinely confused.

“What?”

“I don’t of the lie just as my name had been used at the bank.

“My aunt,” Melissa whispered.

Patricia stared straight ahead.

Daniel changed direction.

“Mrs. even his attorney did not immediately stop him.

“Did I know?”

Melissa looked at him.

He stepped around his chair.

“Did I know what my mother was filled.

“I’m sorry.”

I could not answer.

Sorry did not fit the scale of what had happened.

Daniel asked, “Where did the money go?”

Melissa’s eyes closed.

Patricia’s chair creaked behind her.

“The first payments went where Patricia told me to put at Patricia.

“You told me nobody would ever know.”

Patricia whispered, “Think carefully.”

“I have.”

Brian stared at his
