dropped.

“A camera.”

Luna’s face changed completely.

Whatever tenderness remained from the night vanished beneath something colder than anger.

She turned the device over.

“This isn’t part of the house security system.”

“You’re sure?”

“Yes.”

Adam looked toward the bed.

The angle covered nearly the entire room.

Someone had watched them.

Or intended to.

Luna’s hand began to shake.

“Derek.”

Adam took the device from her.

“Can you prove that?”

“No.”

“He could claim someone else planted it.”

“He won’t have to claim anything if we can trace the signal.”

She grabbed her phone.

Then stopped.

Adam was still staring at the camera.

A worse thought arrived.

“Luna.”

She looked at him.

“If this transmitted live, taking it apart won’t matter.”

She understood.

Her face went pale.

Whatever had happened between them—private, uncertain, unscripted—might already exist on someone else’s screen.

Luna wrapped her arms around herself.

“He wanted proof we were pretending.”

Adam looked back toward the bed.

“He may have gotten the opposite.”

“That doesn’t make this better.”

“No.”

Her phone vibrated.

Both of them looked down.

A message from Derek.

No words.

Just a photograph.

A grainy still image of Adam and Luna asleep beside each other.

Underneath it, a second message appeared.

Interesting weekend.

Luna stared at the screen.

Adam felt every good thing about the night turn sharp.

Derek hadn’t merely suspected them.

He had been inside the room without ever opening the door.

And now he knew something neither Adam nor Luna had been ready to admit.

The marriage might have begun as a lie.

What happened in that bed had not.

<a
