yet.”

I stood.

My father had been dead three years when someone wrote a memorandum in his handwriting warning about Andrew Bell and Julian Harcourt.

Every instinct told me forgery.

Another manufactured document.

But Samuel added:

“There’s more.”

“What?”

“The memorandum wasn’t found in Henry’s personal archive.”

“Where?”

“In the law firm’s sealed trust file.”

“Who placed it there?”

“Access ledger has one name.”

My throat tightened.

“Who?”

Samuel answered.

“Martin Greaves.”

Of course.

Another document using my father.

Another attempt to manufacture history.

But why create a warning against Andrew?

Why forge evidence that appeared to help me?

Nina understood before I did.

“Because it may not have been created to help Claire.”

I looked at her.

“What do you mean?”

“If Greaves planted a document supposedly written by Henry after Henry’s death, then later someone discovers the date impossibility—”

“The entire Henry file becomes questionable.”

“Yes.”

My stomach turned.

Poison the archive.

Insert one obvious fake among real protective documents.

Then, if the trust protections ever became dangerous to Andrew, expose the fake and argue that other Henry records might also be fabricated.

A delayed credibility bomb.

Daniel whispered, “They built a way to attack your father’s documents years ago.”

Nina nodded.

“Potentially.”

I thought of Andrew’s message.

Your father understood me better than you do.

Maybe it had another meaning.

Maybe Andrew knew there was false material inside my father’s archive.

Material he could reveal when necessary.

But if so, he had waited too long.

Because we had originals.

Independent witnesses.

Bank notarizations.

External records.

My father’s genuine protections did not depend on one memo.

Andrew had again assumed one contaminated document could control the story.

Nina’s phone buzzed.

A court filing.

Bell Legacy had just amended its complaint.

New allegation:

The Morgan Family Trust records are unreliable and contain demonstrably fabricated documents falsely attributed to the deceased Henry Morgan.

Attached exhibit:

The impossible nine-year-old memorandum.

Andrew had triggered the bomb.

Exactly as Nina predicted.

Daniel stared at the filing.

“He knew.”

“Yes.”

“He knew that document was there.”

“Yes.”

“How?”

We already had the likely answer.

Because someone in his network put it there.

But Andrew’s filing included one sentence that changed the next stage completely.

Bell Legacy did not accuse Claire of creating the fake.

It accused Samuel Price.

My father’s longtime trust attorney.

And attached what Andrew claimed was proof:

An email from Samuel to Martin Greaves nine years ago.

Subject:

Henry memo finalized.

If authentic, Samuel had helped manufacture my dead father’s words.

The man currently guiding us through the trust might have been compromised from the beginning.

<a
